World's Most Exciting Cities

Not everyone is able to live in Oakland, CA. But after the Movoto Property Blog referred to it as the Most Exciting City in America captured, i felt like everybody in the San francisco bay area was thinking about giving it a shot. For some people, though, big cities just aren’t their thing. They like the life-style that accompany residing in an inferior city -but that doesn’t mean they don’t like to have fun.

With that in mind, and given the fact that we’ve been looking more at small cities and suburbs lately, we decided it was time to look at excitement on the smaller scale. We attempted to apply our mathematical techniques to ranking the Most Exciting Small Cities in America -places that could be scaled down in size, but where people can continue to perform some really big things.

What did we discover? We’re sure the passionate citizens of New Jersey is going to be pleased to discover their particular Hoboken, NJ took the (flashing, noise-making, spinning) crown of pleasure after our results had been tallied.

The birthplace of baseball -a sport whose amount of excitement varies depending on whom you speak with -headed up a diverse top ten of miniature metros including:

1. Hoboken, NJ
2. La Crosse, WI
3. Chapel Hill, NC
4. Lancaster, PA
5. New Brunswick, NJ
6. Manhattan, KS
7. Lakewood, OH
8. Royal Oak, MI
9. San Marcos, TX
10. Sarasota, FL

That’s right -New Jersey actually had two small cities come in the top 10. Oh, and Manhattan made the list- it is simply the one in Kansas. (Yes, really, Kansas.)
